There are three layers off visibility you can gain from the DMARC data with each having their own value:
- Inventory of your own internal email program
Through DMARC you will be able to see all the domains you’re using to actually send email. This may sound unnecessary but many senders do not have a complete view into their full email program. Often times, there are internal sources of email that you did not know about (legacy platform/program, additional ESPs, other business units, etc). With domain reputation becoming increasingly relevant, it’s incredibly important to have full visibility into all your outbound email.
- Monitor outbound authentication
You can also see if any of your mail streams are failing authentication.
- View unauthorized use of your domains
Additionally, you can see if there are unauthorized third parties sending email using your domains.
