Verizon Media is a subsidiary of Verizon Communications, a global telecommunications company. To enhance their digital media business, Verizon Communications acquired AOL in 2015 and Yahoo! in 2017. The combined media business was rebranded as Verizon Media in January, 2019, but the AOL and Yahoo! brand names and domains continue to be used in the marketplace.
Verizon Media successfully merged the AOL and Yahoo! email infrastructures in the spring of 2019 so Verizon, AOL, and Yahoo! domains all use the same spam filter technology.
- Yahoo! Mail has approximately 300 million email accounts.
- AOL has approximately 24 million email accounts.
