Purpose
This test checks whether the domain in your From header (for example: support@sub.company.com) has an MX record listed in the Domain Name System (DNS). If an MX record does not exist, your system is unable to accept incoming email messages. If your system cannot accept incoming email messages, it is unable to process bounce messages or receive incoming email communications from customers or mailbox providers. Email systems set up to send, but not receive, email are considered suspicious by mailbox providers.
This test is often performed by mailbox providers to determine if your system is set up to accept incoming mail.
How it works
When a campaign is sent to Inbox Monitor, Inbox Optimizer checks the message header for your From domain using the first reference seed received.
Results
- Pass: If your From domain has an MX record
- Fail: If your From domain does not have an MX record
