This test determines if the HELO command hostname matches the reverse Domain Name System (rDNS) for your IP address. Mailbox providers consider a HELO and rDNS match as part of a correctly configured infrastructure.
How it works
When a campaign is sent to Inbox Monitor, Inbox Optimizer collects information about your HELO hostname and rDNS for your IP address during the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) conversation that your sending server has with Return Path’s receiving server using the reference seeds.
- Pass: If the HELO command host name matches the rDNS for the sending IP address.
- Fail: If the HELO command host name does not match the rDNS for the sending IP address.
