Here are some reasons why CoreSeeds might go offline:
- Messages may be corrupted within a mailbox which prevents Return Path’s processes from the collecting mail
- Mailbox providers make infrastructure or security changes that interrupt Return Path's process for collecting CoreSeed data
- System outages at the mailbox provider cause a widespread issue that prevents Return Path from accessing the mailboxes
When CoreSeeds go offline, we take them out of your Return Path Platform or Inbox Monitor reports. This helps us get your reports back to normal during the offline periods. Also, we gray out the offline CoreSeeds in Return Path Platform or Inbox Monitor so you can easily see which ones are excluded from your reports.
CoreSeeds are typically offline for no more than a few days. When CoreSeeds return to online status, they are automatically streamed back into your reports. No action is needed on your part.
Occasionally, CoreSeeds may be taken permanently offline. In that case, they are removed from Currently Active Seeds and added to Seeds to Suppress, found in the Seed List slideout under My Account. You will receive an email notifying you to update your seed list. If you seed automatically, no action is needed on your part.
