What is measurable and consistent volume and why do I need to maintain it for Certification?

Under Return Path's Certification program, your certified IPs and dedicated DKIM domains must have measurable and consistent volume. Here's what that means:

IP address requirements

  • Measurable volume: You must send 100 email messages to Yahoo! and 100 email messages to Microsoft in a 30-day period from each certified IP address.
    • The number of certified IP addresses should be relative to the volume they send.
    • IPs without measurable volume will be suspended after 30 days and removed from Certification after 60 days.
  • Consistent volume: You must consistently use certified IP addresses for at least 60 days.
    • IP addresses with zero sending volume present security issues.

Dedicated DKIM domain requirements

  • Measurable volume: You must send 100 email messages to Microsoft in a 30-day period from each certified dedicated DKIM domain.
    • Dedicated DKIM domains without measurable volume will be suspended after 30 days and removed from Certification after 60 days.
  • Consistent volume: You must consistently use certified dedicated DKIM domains for at least 60 days.
    • Dedicated DKIM domains with zero sending volume present security issues.

Return Path can only effectively monitor IPs and dedicated DKIM domains sending measurable volume.
