What is phishing?


Phishing is a form of identity theft in which a cyber criminal uses an email which appears to be an authentic message from a reputable source to trick recipients into giving out sensitive, personal information such as:

  • Credit card numbers
  • Bank account numbers
  • Social Security numbers
  • Other personally identifiable information (PII)
