Why did my IP address suddenly show a big increase in Sender Reputation Data (SRD) votes?

Periodically, an IP address may experience a large and sudden increase in the number of Sender Reputation Data (SRD) votes it receives. This process, which Microsoft calls upsampling, is not uncommon.

Microsoft upsamples IP addresses for a variety of reasons. Part of its sampling algorithm includes this process to make sure it has an accurate reading for each IP address. Usually, upsampling does not last long.
