What is a whitelist?

A whitelist is a list of IP addresses or domains that are provided privileged access or treatment. It is the opposite of a blacklist, which is intended to block or restrict access.

Some mailbox providers include senders with a good reputation on whitelists to allow their email to bypass some of their spam filters and provide prioritized delivery. Return Path's Certification program is considered a whitelist for delivery at participating mailbox providers.
