Why do I need to be a legally registered and established business to be certified?

Legally registered, established businesses are sound, secure companies. Certified sender mailing programs must belong to this type of business.

To prove this, certified sender businesses must:

  • Be legally registered
  • Have a physical address
  • Have been operational for a minimum of one year
  • Be verifiable from a third-party source such as [yourstate].gov

Certified business entities (brand parent companies) must also be legally registered and have been operational for a minimum of six months.

Businesses, brands, and mailing programs inevitably experience many changes in their first few months. In order for Certification analysts to properly audit a sender's application, their business, brand, and mailing programs need to be legally registered and established for these minimum amounts of time.
